They nurtured and provided for us, giving us both a home and a heritage. First parents, then grandparents, they were constant through the years, changing slowly with the seasons. When, suddenly, it was my turn to nurture and provide for them, I found the road rutted with uncertainty, but the frustrations of role reversal and anguished decisions often gave way to tender moments that softened the hard edges of stress and exhaustion.
